The team at the Forge are all stars. They are friendly and always happy to help. The renting process was super easy and every time I have questions they are always answered promptly. The parcel system is great. The buildings are gorgeous and seem built to a high standard. A few things could be improved – e.g. you can smell cookings from other flats at times which seems to be coming from the exhaust fan. The location is excellent, especially for commuters. Of course the downside is the noise from trains/metro but one gets used to it. So far it has been a positive experience and I appreciate the effort the team puts into organising events. This is really renting life made easier!

Lots of shops, cafés, great transport links, close to Quayside and great for walks along the river.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I can’t think of anything. Helen did the viewing and gave a thorough overview of the buildings and how renting works here. She answered all the questions I had. And was very patient with me and all my questions. I decided to rent here as soon as I arrived. There were unexpected things when I moved in.

The building is ideally located in the city centre. The availability of a 24 hour concierge provides both convenience and the added benefit of security. The communal areas and the apartments themselves are also finished to a very high standard. On site staff are friendly and helpful and the building is pet friendly.

There could do with being a shop a little closer, also maybe less than ideal for anyone with children.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The electricity consumption for the flat seems quite high, although this could have just been a longer than normal winter.

I am really enjoying living in the Forge – everything is new and modern, and the gym and lounge facilities are excellent. I also really enjoy the social activities that are organised for residents. It’s generally quiet at night too with no noisy neighbours. I also love the fact that pets are allowed.

My one criticism would be that overall, space is a bit short – in particular there is a lack of storage space (an inbuilt utility cupboard for hoovers/cleaning equipment etc would have been useful). Considering the small size of the apartments, the cost of renting is also quite steep. Overall however, I feel that the quality of the apartment and the facilities makes up for this.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The Forge is approximately 6-7 minutes walk from Central Station which is really handy. It’s also just a minute’s walk from the Tyne, allowing for easy access to walks along the Quayside. Unfortunately there are no large supermarkets within walking distance which is a bit of a pain.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

There is no gas supply for the apartments at the Forge – the heating is run off electricity which is actually quite expensive.

Best place to live in Newcastle

The Forge is an ideal location, superb design and build quality. Only thing lacking is parking however it’s a city centre location, so close to transport links.

The facilities are great and always resident events held. Forge employees are all world class also in terms of customer service.

Plenty of bars, restaurants, shops and transport links nearby. Yards away from Central Station.

The lights dim. The mirrors are heated. Game changer.

My experience to date of both the flat and facilities has been positive. Staff are helpful and friendly, the quality of white goods, fixtures and fittings and furnishings in the flat is very good and the green spaces in the complex make it a pleasant place to be.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The council need to address the litter problem in the city centre and city parks (Not an issue in the immediate area of the complex). Newcastle Central Station provides easy access to rest of UK. Enough independent local businesses, large and small to ensure the city retains an individual character and doesn’t become homogeneous. Close to beach, countryside, and all perks of living in a city. Easy to navigate on foot. Warm, friendly, and diverse locals.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I have a dog with separation anxiety and so can’t leave him. I can’t work in the building’s communal spaces or meeting room with my dog which restricts my access to the facilities. Just worth dog owners keeping this in mind. Dogs are allowed in the flats (which is brilliant of course) and outside areas but not in the indoor communal spaces. A building with dog owners in it may want to consider designating a time or area where dog owners can bring their dogs.

Close to train station and quayside
Easy access to town centre
Limited traffic at rush hour
Great restaurants nearby

Negatives:
Train noise (barely noticeable)
No shops/supermarket nearby. A corner shop would be ideal
No parks nearby

Parking is easy (but expensive)
No corner shop very close
Free food events provided
Can take dog out for toilet round the back of the West block
