The local area is great, loads of restaurants, bars and parking nearby. The transport links are great too, especially being within the city centre.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Yes all issues that I have raised (tiny maintenance requests) have all been promptly addressed.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Just that it’s a great place, where you feel safe and in a lovely community.

Very close to amazing restaurants and cafes, including Cambridge Street Collective. There is a good park across the road with a nice food vendor who does amazing drinks.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Yes, they are arranging to have my bedroom wall painted.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

It is a large building, so get to know which doors are closest to you to save you from walking the long way round.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Kangaroo Works is located right near the city centre, making everyday life extremely convenient. As an international student from South Korea, having Oseyo, a Korean supermarket, nearby is a huge plus for getting familiar groceries. On top of that, there are plenty of large markets like The Moor Market and Sainsbury's close by, which makes day-to-day shopping completely hassle-free. The neighbourhood also has great dining and nightlife options. There’s a fantastic pub called "Kapital" that I visit often, along with a wide variety of other shops and restaurants. There are also plenty of great pubs and eateries around Sheffield City Hall that I enjoy visiting regularly. For outdoor space, there is a park nearby, and getting around the city is very easy thanks to the excellent tram and bus connections. Most importantly, the flat itself is very quiet with no traffic noise, and the soundproofing between floors is superb—I can sleep soundly every night without any disturbances, which I am extremely satisfied with! In particular, as an international student at the University of Sheffield, the location is ideal because the campus is within easy walking distance—taking only about 15 minutes on foot. I would definitely recommend it to fellow international students.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

We have contacted the management team twice for assistance. It took about one to two days, but they visited our flat and resolved the issues properly. That being said, it would be even better if we could be notified of their visit time in advance.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The standout highlights are definitely the 24/7 on-site gym and the exceptional soundproofing, which ensures a quiet night's sleep. Having a Tesco right downstairs, being moments from the city centre, and having great bus connections are also massive perks. As a tip for new neighbours—especially international students who often book without viewing in person—the view, natural light, and noise levels can vary depending on which side of the building your flat faces, so it’s well worth asking about your specific unit's orientation beforehand.

The area is brilliant for food and drink – Division Street, West Street and Kelham Island are all close by, with a huge range of independent cafés, restaurants and bars, and Devonshire Green is a nice open space a few minutes' walk away. There's a good mix of shops nearby for everyday essentials, and the city centre is on your doorstep for anything else. Transport links are excellent: the tram stop on West Street is a short walk, there are plenty of bus routes, and the train station is easy to reach on foot. Parking is limited, as you'd expect in the city centre, so it suits people without a car best. Bin collections have been reliable . There's some noise from traffic and nightlife at weekends, but nothing more than you'd expect this central, and I've not had any issues with anti-social behaviour.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

When we moved in, the dishwasher wasn't working and the washing machine was flooding. Even though it was late on a Friday, the maintenance team came out straight away, did what they could to make things safe and usable, and promised to follow up first thing Monday with a proper fix. They kept their word and both issues were fully fixed. It was reassuring to see issues taken seriously and handled so promptly, even outside normal hours.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Expect a bit of noise at weekends, which comes with being so central. If you're a light sleeper, consider which side of the building you're on.

The local area around Kangaroo Works is genuinely one of its strong points. There's a good mix of shops and cafes within easy walking distance — 200 Degrees is a particular favourite of mine for a coffee. There are also a few solid restaurant and bar options nearby for evenings out. Transport links are convenient, with a bus stop just a short walk from the building, making it easy to get around without needing a car. As for the street itself, it's generally quiet and well looked after. Parking is limited, which can be a bit of a hassle at times, but bin collections are reliable and on schedule, and I haven't experienced any real problems with anti-social behaviour or traffic noise.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Building management has been quick and reliable whenever I've raised an issue. Any problems I've reported have been dealt with promptly, and the team (especially Rosie and Casey on reception) are always easy to reach and genuinely helpful in following things through to resolution. It's reassuring knowing that if something does come up, it gets sorted without a lot of back and forth.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

One thing I'd share with a new neighbour: there's a construction site nearby, but it's a non-issue once your windows are closed — you barely notice it. I already knew about it before moving in, so it wasn't a surprise, but it's worth mentioning for anyone doing a viewing who might not clock it. It really doesn't disrupt the peace and quiet inside the flat.
