Greenwich Millennium Village is located close to the River Thames in the Greenwich Peninsula and features a range of one, two and three-bedroom luxury apartments. The development offers easy access to the 02 arena and Canary Wharf as well as nearby transport links into Central London via North Greenwich station with the Jubilee line. The Emirates Air Line is also only a fifteen-minute walk away from the ever-popular Millennium Village, Greenwich’s pioneering scheme that has since seen the transformation of the area.

Previously I would have said that the Millennium Village is ok, but a bit lacking in soul. However there has been a lot of investment in the last 6 years to bring more facilities and life to the development with the new plans proposed so when we considered renting prices in the area we decided to move here. Greenwich millennium village feels safe and the school is excellent. There are lots of beautiful open spaces to enjoy with the children and the links to public transport are excellent. We tend to use the jubilee line which is literally on your doorstep or take a bus into Charlton or Greenwich – really easy to find and very frequent.

It’s a bit of an island and it doesn’t really join up with other neighbourhoods but upcoming further development will improve that as they bring everything together.
Nursery is excellent
The nursery – Millennium minis – is wonderful. We had to wait quite a while to get a place and with the new developments planned on site you should get on the waiting list as soon as you decide to move here. The atmosphere is very friendly and kids feel comfortable. They go for a walk twice a day and there is an ecology park nearby with a pond which they love. When they are indoors there are plenty developmental activities. The nursery has an electronic tracking system so I can check how my baby sleeps or what she has had for lunch. Ladies who work there are always open to discuss with you any concern and Ben always ask the parents what can be improved.
We are very happy living here.

If you want a community move here
We moved to London 18 months ago as my husband works in Canary Wharf. As a family we wanted to ensure we were close by and he wasn’t commuting big distances but we had a home and community to support us as we have no family in the UK. Many developments we looked at felt like they were just a faceless high rise and we wanted to make friends and meet like minded people. Greenwich Millennium Village has been perfect for us, with so many facilities on site and the open park areas you don’t feel that you are living in a city. We have also made lots of friends through the nursery and primary school.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in: I was not familiar with London before moving here and did not appreciate how far east Canary Wharf is. The tube is a 20 minute walk away (with a buggy!) and it feels like a big commitment to visit central London.
The flat feels very warm, cosy and modern
We moved into the flat, which is part of the Galleria phase of the development, a couple of months ago and are loving the open plan living room, the tall windows and great views of the river, Canary Wharf and Southern Park. The flat feels very warm, cosy and modern and everything is built to a high standard. There is also a secure parking garage and a secure bike shed, as well as private terrace/green spaces in the building. There is going to be a nursery and a cafe in the building. The concierge is currently located 5 min away but will move into the adjacent building once it’s ready. Any teething issues we have had since we moved in have been dealt with swiftly by either the developers (if in the flat) or by the management company (if outside the flat).
On the negative side, there is still construction going on right next to us as they are building the next phase of the development (Parkside) and so there is a lot of construction noise during the day. It can also get very windy as there is a large open area in front of the building so the terrace is basically useless most of the time. They could have done winter terraces or at least made the terraces more shielded from the rain and wind by installing some glass panels. We would have also liked to have a gym in the building as there are no good gyms in close proximity.

Pros:
– great views of Southern park, the ecology park and Canary wharf
– nice walks around the riverside
– very family-friendly, lots of green spaces, a few playgrounds for the children, a nearby nursery, pharmacies, a GP practice and dental practice. There are also primary schools nearby.
– within walking distance of North Greenwich tube station and Cutty Sark
– in close proximity to the O2 arena which has a range of shops
– availability of grocery stores near us, IKEA within walking distance
– 30 min walk from Greenwich park / Cutty sark
– the streets around the development are very quiet and clean and feel safe in the evening
Cons:
– parking in the development is very restricted unless you own your own parking space.
– very few bins have been installed around the development (particularly Rennie street)
– while our building is finished, there is ongoing construction next to us and the street in front of the building is still being built. This has made deliveries difficult at times as drivers can’t find the location of the building easily.
– Blackwall tunnel closures on some weekends make car travel difficult.

We wish to have known how long the building works next to us would go on for.
What is the best feature of your home:
The best features of the home are many – open plan, nice views, warmth, modern-looking spaces.
real sense of community
I lived in millennium village and it’s 15 mins walk to the park and you can get the bus there too. I would highly recommend the area. If I hadn’t moved abroad, I would never have moved out of that area. A lovely school there too, if you’re planning on having kids. It has a real sense of community and lots of things are organised near the ecology park for kids. My daughter had lots of friends there and we loved it.

made some great friends
Amazing once you close your door.
The only issue is a lot of the buildings look different. You have little clusters of the same design, then next to you is a completely different building. But the space inside (particularly our property) is large and well laid out. The building management is not the best at all. Have reported communal lights out for some time, issues with communal lights falling down as well. Carpets are not cleaned. But as soon as you close your front door, its bliss.
Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:
The community itself is lovely. Loads of shops close by, but not so close it feels busy. The open space and the Ecology park is amazing. There is a lot of construction noise as a lot of the village is still being built. We were told there was more resident services prior to moving in, such as a gym etc but this doesnt seem to exsist.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
Wish I knew that the village was not as huge of a community as advertised. Expected more village markets etc in the square. We do have some events through which is great. Also wished we knew that building were going up the other side of the ecology park, as this is now our main view point instead of the lake.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
They don’t respond often, but you need to contact them regularly to get electric meter readings which are in hall communal cupboards. A bit of a silly process for thousands of homes.
Positive location & inside property- management & cladding needs immediacy
Very poor maintenance in past few years by Rendall and Rittner – increased service charges but there does not seem to be regular walkabout visits by the management to check on maintenance issues like the paving and the outside of the development there should be regular cleaning of paving and rendering also the developers have not yet committed a date for starting the cladding remedial work nor a finish date for the cladding remedial work although it is understood by all residents in blocks over 11 m that Taylor Wimpey and countryside will supply funding for cladding remedial work but the development was advised that the work would be necessary at the end of 2020 and the work has still not started by March 2023.
A start date and a finish date have not been given yet – once the door is closed as somebody else said here it’s a wonderful place to live with fabulous views of the lake and park and wildlife but the outside of the development needs formal input by the management company and maintenance and the developers need to ensure that remedial cladding is started and finished immediately as all residents who own properties had been in limbo for the last two years plus moat housing association needs to keep regular visits of their tenants properties and the state of the outside of their properties is to ensure that lease terms are adhered to and respect of external aesthetics constantly adhered to

Fabulous green areas and very pleasant walk through parkour along river to North Greenwich station to co-op‘s within the vicinity and a Tesco Metro down by North Greenwich station also buses run from North Greenwich regularly to Greenwich millennium Village Square but it is an easy and pleasant walk through the park loads of restaurants in the vicinity.
And regular local events music/art/sport/cinema particularly in the summer are we still in often f free as well as regular craft/food markets down by the O2 Square near North Greenwich station and fabulous shopping outlet at the icon at the O2 amazing place to live great walks along river pier for taking river buses into central London or east to Barking nothing negative to say about the local area it’s really lovely
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
Be aware a lot of black dust comes into the apartment from local building work so you will be constantly wiping down your bathroom and worktops and hoovering enjoy the ecology park area when it comes into life in the spring it is particularly beautiful and there are also great walks in the less gentrified part of the river past the Greenwich yacht club going towards Charlton.
Is a chance to see a more historic part of the river that reflects the original working river of the past there is so much to talk about at Greenwich peninsula- definitely advised anybody to walk around thoroughly the local areas and parks and river and also the icon shopping outlet and check out the local restaurants plus another advantage is being either walking distance along the river or a short bus ride away or a short Thames Clipper ride away from the historic part of beautiful Greenwich with the Royal Navy College being an incredible feature with many summer events and outdoor cinema.
It is a wonderful place to live it is a pity we are let down by the cladding crisis and the unattractive Remedio work on local buildings taking place plus the amount of building in the local area and the Silvertown tunnel which none of us wanted and of course it is very important that the management company continues to keep the development in clean and maintained order to ensure ascetics remain as they were when the property was new as service charges on all these developments.
Need to be considered bear in mind that the first year of service charge on new developments will definitely not reflect what you will be paying five years later the first year of service charge is always lower and more established developments are more realistic of future service charges those people with the car will need to find property on older developments which offered car parking for more abundantly than the new developments to be prepared to pay a premium of £20,000 to 25,000 or more for a parking space and also to pay service charges extra of around £350 a year for a secure parking space within the development – Check that residents are not allowed to carry out Airbnb in the older developments they are definitely not allowed to rent out in the short term only for a minimum of a six months tenancy we have seen many suitcases going in about and out of newer developments which suggests that people are renting out on Airbnb which should not be permitted in residential blocks assured short hole tenancy is with a minimum of six months of the normal lease time rules
Decline in beauty and service
The design of the village is great with a mixture of different buildings. The facilities vary with blocks, but we have concierge and parking. Other buildings have a gym. The block management can be slow to deal with, and don’t take ownership of issues.
Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:
There is a handful of shops in the village ranging from food shops, cafes, hairdressers and pharmacy. The open green spaces are well maintained and beautiful. The ecology Park has had a footpath closed for around a year, and a lot of the paths are rotten which is dangerous. Antisocial behaviour has been on the rise. The heating and hot water is constantly an issue with the service not working.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
That more and more buildings would go up around us, dampening the main reason we moved: The view!
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
Sometimes yes, but not often. When they do respond they are slow to deal.
Best flat choice ever
We were thw first tenants to move in. We have a brand new flat with amazing view of Canary Wharf and beautiful twilight views.
The flat is spacious and quite and neighbourhood is great too, everything is nearby, from tube station to O2 arena and shopping mall..anything you need!
Concierge open 24/7 is a great service as well.
Paying very competitive rent for one bed flat in zone 2
Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:
I like that everything is at walking distance from tibe station to shopping, with park right in front of buildings development.
If anything that I dislike is that there are a lot of contructions work going on at the moment that may affect a little on the appereance of the area and the dust on windows

Great place to live!
I recently moved in to this amazing place and I fall more in love with it each day that I am here. Everyone is so accommodating and friendly! The move in process was so easy and stress free. The apartments are beautiful and having a parking garage and gym in the building makes this place feel like home! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great place to live!”
