Affordable and pleasant

Overall the apartments are very impressive. The extra facilities are excellent and I am proud to live in this building, the reception area is lovely. The finishings of the building could be a little better, there are bits of tape left on door frames and loose fittings in our flat but the reception staff are always very helpful with this. Our only negative really on the flats are the lack of parking available and the sheer price of this on top of rent which makes it very expensive.

It is a very central area and the views are nice. It is a short walk to the city centre with a lovely park for dog walkers a minutes walk away. There are plenty of local shops etc however the other residents of the other housing estates can be very antisocial playing music, shouting and even arguing in the streets both in the daytime and evening. There is often broken glass on the floor outside the flats and things drawn on our car as we can’t afford to park in the limited spaces at the flat. The bin collections are very loud and cars can be heard revving engines and tearing up and down in the night. Parking is difficult

That we could not get a parking permit from the council due to there being parking on site.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Yes, they replaced our fire alarms when they kept going off and did a few finishing touches that were not completed on moving in.

Amazing staff, location & facilities

The design of the building is fantastic, very similar to a modern hotel. The decor resembles IKEA which we love and always looks and smells amazing. We regularly use the roof terrace which is spacious, comfy and relaxing. The receptionists are very helpful and polite always, we really appreciate how they go above and beyond in customer service. The building is very well maintained apart from some residents disrespecting others when it comes to the bin stores, but the maintenance resolves this pretty quickly every time. The stair panels need re-sticking with a stronger glue as they are always falling off.

The area is so close to town centre so makes it easy to a variety of shops and get to the train station.
The noise is amplified as the building it built in a square so at night we sometimes on weekends struggle to sleep when someone has friends round or the roads are noisy. But in general a very good location and services

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Be careful with the walls, they scratch easily. Very easy to clean. Easily accessible to all facilities and bin stores. To get to the roof terrace is a little confusing but once you know the route you get used to it. The building link app is amazing at linking you to everyone in the building- it’s like a little community

Very well, all issues have been dealt with promptly

The apartments are a good size and finished to a good quality. The communal areas are also well proportioned and designed well although they have in places become damaged already, in particular external doors that are now unsecure and lifts that consistently makes unsettling noises. Issues have been handled well with property management acting quickly to resolve issues. The gym and social areas are good although booking them out can be tricky, not due to availability but as the app is not very well designed. We are very happy living here and would recommend it to others.

The area surrounding the apartments is going through a period of transition and development. The location is good being a short walk into town with integral secure parking (for an additional fee). The main road adjacent is fairly noisy in the evening and weekends which can cause some disturbance.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Road Noise and anti social behaviour at night, high energy and council tax costs not available due to new building at time of moving in.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Yes although some issues remain such as a unsecured external door.

I’ve moved to Gatehouse Apartments for 3 months. The flat is stylish, beautiful and all are in well condition. My partner and I really enjoy living here. We especially impressed by the gym room, parcel collection service, and the hospitality by the reception team!! There’re also some wonderful resident activities to let you know your neighbours! Just the car parking fee (£100/month) is a bit expensive while the bike storage is free.

Located in Southampton city centre, there is a variety of shopping hubs and international restaurants in the Westquay and Bargate. The streets are generally tidy and clean. In the city centre, you can choose to drive, take buses or trains. The stations are withing walking distance. Such a convenient location!

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

There is a system called Summer Bypass for the ventilation, so please be prepared that the ventilation would stop occasionally during the summer. Getting a fan would help.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

I reported that there was a dead body of bird in the entrance. The resident service team responded immediately and called another professionals to clean up in the next day. They are efficient.

Paying for location and facilities – but both are good

The building and apartments itself are really well designed and decorated. We love the facilities included especially the gym and fast WiFi. Both work from home on video calls etc and no problems with the free version of the Internet. Use the gym several times a week and usually have it to ourselves, and it’s kept nice and clean.
We’ve had quite a few maintenance and management issues arise though and have only been here a few months. Paying a lot of money for apartment so expect top quality service but not always been the case. Management and response to enquiries hasn’t always been great but since raising concerns about it, it’s got much better. I think the company should offer a better support package for maintenance and building issues considering the rental costs. The residents team arrange quite a lot of socials which is nice.

Great location – right in the centre, minutes walk away from loads of nice places for food and bars, and right next to the park as well. On the edge of a council estate but not much bother, some antisocial behaviour at times.

Book the facilities in advance and get access at your fave times:)

Yes but sometimes lengthy wait for action – have needed chasing/ asking for updates.

The development is situated very centrally with easy access to central Southampton’s bars/shops/restaurants as well as transport links. The development is beautiful laid out and well kept and the management team go above and beyond for your satisfaction. The only negative is we have had some issues with our intercom system, with many people saying they have rang our buzzer and it hasnt sounded.

The facilities are excellent, a well kept gym, sufficient bin storage and common areas are beautifully kept. The management team are fantastic. They are highly responsive, friendly, helpful and even threw myself and my husband a reception on the roof terrace, providing decorations. This is well outside of the normal offering for them so the fact they went so out of there way for us meant a lot.

The flat came beautifully laid out and in perfect condition. There is loads of storage and a spacious balcony. All mod cons work as they should and the internet included in the cost is fast and secure.

The roof terrace offers a great view as well as lots of seating and lighting and is always well kept. The building is peaceful and the parking is highly secure. We are very happy here.

I cannot think of anything. Everything was well explained and clearly set out before we moved in and there have been no nasty suprises.

They have always responded promptly and done all they could to help. They always offer help with a smile and take a genuine interest in how we are getting on.

The management team is really great

The management team is really great – they organise fun events on a regular basis and are always available (despite often changing service hours, which is sometimes inconvenient). The building design is nice, relatively modern and the flat design was particularly at our taste.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The building is very central and extremely close to shops, post office, banks, etc. The parking is really spacious, but bin collections are sometimes problematic: there is not enough space to collect everyone’s rubbish and the bin containers are often full (we’ve also been moved to a bin collection point recently because of these issues, which is now farther from where our flat is located). Apart from that, the residence is great!

There isn’t any doorbell at the door, guest have to knock at the door and we can’t hear them sometimes

Great response from the management team – we had an issue with our fridge and was sorted quickly

Nice apartment, not the best management.

Nice, modern design. Gym facilities are basic. Building management useful but repairs may take a long time. Property management not the best, had difficulties with rent payments as many mistakes happened from the management team.

Private parking is provided by the apartment complex with charge. Many bins available. No significant traffic noise.

Many pigeon poop on East balconies.

They reply after a week usually, not very timely solutions.

The building itself is wonderful. Settling in has taken no time at all and the processing prior to moving in, and since, has been faultless. The Service Team are both kind & attentive – the shared areas within the building are incredibly well-maintained. No complaints, thank goodness!

The location of the apartments & being in the midst of the city centre is a huge perk! Surprisingly, there’s little to no disruption/noise – (even on Friday nights through to Sundays) – & everything seems accessible. It’s a perfect mix having plenty of open spaces with the local parks, but supermarkets/high street shops/bars, etc all within a stone’s throw.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

This was my first time moving out – I hadn’t appreciated until recently how well the flat was furnished & how helpful that’s been in saving money & creating a space that feels like a home. Also, the flat is much bigger than I thought looking at pictures initially. Bring lots to decorate with!

Swiftly! There’s only been one incident, and that was solved the same day.

Excellent apartments

Spacious flats with modern design, washing machine, dish washer included. Absolute amazing gym!
Property management very friendly and willing to help with anything.
Large parking space as well as a beautiful rooftop terrace with a great view of Southampton.

Excellent location with supermarkets nearby and 7 min walk from shopping center
