Disappointing and expensive experience due to poor management as ruthless housing association.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

It’s very central and at some times, it’s nice on the south end of the building in the morning, but It’s super noisy here because of students talking and shouting outside all hours of the night. I have barely had a full nights sleep since moving here. There is no residents parking on the street around here. There are some paid parking spots under the building but I gather they are expensive. There are sometimes junkies outside and even in the corridors when they get into our building on the Morley street end of the buildings. The bike storage here is laughable because it’s in the basement with no lift and once down the stairs, you have to get your bike around the corner through two fire doors. Impossible unless you are young and fit.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had known how incredibly noisy the students would be outside. It seemed quiet when I looked at it because the sound proofing in the student building is good but there are some problem us that when anyone is outside anywhere in the development you can hear the sound echoing everywhere. The buildings are far too close together and no thought was giving to how much and how far the sound would carry and also be amplified up by bouncing around the building. I also wish I’d know how much the service charge would go up. It was £150pm when I moved in. Less than four years later, it’s £400. Horrifying.

What is the best feature of your home:

The inside of my flat is very nice. The ceilings are high. It’s hard to hear the flat but on a sunny day it’s very nice living in a new build with big windows. There is really good sound proofing up and down this building. I never hear my neighbours upstairs. You can hear doors slamming in the corridors at night though. I don’t share any walls with anyone (three walls to the outside) so I can play music really loud which is great.
