Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
The area is great; it’s very central with a lot of things within five minutes walk, and almost everything within 10. The only things that are further and might need a commute are the GP surgery, fresh butchers and bakery that sells fresh bread. The area is loud for either bus traffic as it’s in front of the bus stop or for people on weekend nights - but I don’t mind as it is a city centre and the double glaze windows let only minimal noise through. I witness a lot littering but the city communal services are doing a great job with that; and there isn’t much I can do with people (mostly residents) smoking under my window. Transport is 10/10, with a range of buses, mainline stations and a subway. It’s not this location specific but a Glasgow thing - Sunday transport starts late and the public transport have a range of different payment and ticketing methods. I don’t need parking but I was made aware that there are no space available within the development. Bin collection are a bit of mess - neighbours don’t know how to segregate waste and the refuse ends up looking like a health hazard.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
Building management has been very responsive with f2f and email queries. Organising viewing was very easy and very accommodating. Communication between the viewing and moving in was a bit glitchy. And now that I’m here, any admin query is very responsive. The maintenance team, a one-person team, is very friendly and works across different sites, so if a repair is not urgent, there will be a wait.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
I would definitely recommend viewing in person or by proxy; virtual viewing is cute and the guide phenomenal, but a vibe check of the space and having a feel for it is still better. If I did see it in person, I probably wouldn’t move in - but now that I’m here, I will stay for at least two years. And the second thing is the Homebox scheme for heating and hot water - I’m on it, but I still don’t understand it and I feel it lacks transparency. I wish there was more information about it. I have experience with community heating/hot water, but I’ve never seen a setup like this.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
Merchant City is a lively, central part of Glasgow with loads of great restaurants, bars, and shops. It’s ideal for people who enjoy city life, with a creative vibe, regular festivals, and strong transport links. However, parking is expensive and limited. Night-time noise from bars and events is common, but green space at Glasgow Green is nearby . It’s a great spot for young professionals and those who love being in the middle of the action, but maybe not ideal for families or anyone looking for peace and quiet. Still, it’s one of Glasgow’s most vibrant areas.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
Answered promptly and the issues were dealt with almost immediately.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
How hot the apartments were going to be in the summer. Aircon would have been a welcome addition to the apartment.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
My time at Candleriggs has been absolutely wonderful from start to finish. I’ve had a very good experience living here — the safety and security have always been top notch, which gave me complete peace of mind. The amenities were excellent and made day-to-day living very comfortable, and the overall upkeep of the building was always impressive. The location is ideal, everything is close by and convenient, and the apartment itself felt like home from the very beginning. The staff have also been friendly, professional, and responsive whenever needed, which made the whole experience smooth and stress-free. I genuinely couldn’t ask for more, and I would happily recommend Candleriggs to anyone looking for a safe, well-managed, and welcoming place to live in Glasgow.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
The building management has always responded quickly, professionally, and with great care whenever I raised an issue. Any problems were dealt with efficiently, and I always felt well supported as a tenant.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
One thing I wish I had known before moving in is just how safe, quiet, and welcoming the community here would be. From a viewing, you can appreciate the design and facilities, but living here shows how well-managed, secure, and comfortable the development truly is. It has been a very pleasant surprise, and I would happily recommend it to any new neighbour.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
The local area is absolutely packed with places to eat, get drinks, grab a coffee, hit the shops and there is a constant stream of events right on your doorstep to entertain. You couldn’t be closer to Argyle Street train station and Central/Queen Street are just a stones throw away. St Enoch subway station is only a five minute walk and there are countless buses that pass by the stop just outside reception. The downside is that car parking is limited although there is an abundance of bike secure bike spaces. Bin collection is generally very convenient however it could be perhaps collected more frequently. At times, particularly on the weekend, the streets can get lively and potentially rowdy however the double glazed window offers sufficient sound proofing.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
The team on hand were exceptional in advising our every move and they supported us right up until we secured our tenancy agreement.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
Perhaps more information on the set up of the bills via Ovo and Homebox would have been beneficial.

The location is very central, but the flat is very well insulated and quiet. It’s in an ideal place for my commute to work everyday from queen street station
