Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
The local area is great. But there are lots of pubs and bars in the area so it can be loud and there are drunk people. There are also a lot of students and Tennants who smoke weed so it can smell bad in the lifts sometimes. And there are suspected drug addicts around the rear of the building as there are often needles. The bins are collected sporadically, they get full very quickly so it can start to smell. There is a Q park nearby.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
Yes but they’re at the mercy of the owners I’m assuming.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
I wish I’d known that hearing and hot water were such a problem And I also wish I’d known that the smell of weed was so common. It smells so strong.
Manager response
Dear Annie, Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re really pleased to hear that you find our team friendly, responsive, and supportive, and that you enjoy the community events and onsite gym facilities. In relation to the two separate boiler related issues that unfortunately resulted in hot water and heating disruptions. While faults with mechanical systems can occur unexpectedly, both issues have now been fully resolved. To minimise any future inconvenience, we have put several measures in place: We now work with specialist engineers who know our specific system extremely well. Our onsite team conducts multiple checks each day to monitor the heating and hot water performance. We maintain a stock of essential spare parts to reduce waiting times should a repair ever be required again. While we cannot always predict when faults may occur, we are committed to responding swiftly, effectively, and with the right expertise. Your comment regarding heat meter readings has been noted but please be aware this is the same as every other meter, it will continue to generate a standing charge, and we understand how frustrating this can feel during periods of disruption. As shared in our monthly newsletter, we have arranged additional bin uplifts to prevent overflowing bins and improve waste management onsite. We kindly ask residents to continue using the correct recycling streams to help maintain capacity. The 9th floor terraces were temporarily closed due to storm damage. As the building is still under warranty, the builders were required to source and install new tiles, which has now been completed. The 9th floor terraces have been open for some time, and we aim to keep them available unless there is a specific safety concern. If any closure is ever required, we will always communicate this to residents promptly. There are six lifts on-site. At present, one lift has been out of service while awaiting a specialist part from the manufacturer. We understand the inconvenience and are chasing this regularly to ensure it is restored as soon as possible. While we work hard to maintain a safe and pleasant environment inside and surrounding the building, unfortunately we cannot control activity in the external neighbourhood. If you ever experience issues involving other residents within the building, please report them to our 24‑hour security and concierge team so they can take appropriate action. We appreciate your acknowledgement of our team’s efforts. Our goal is always to support residents promptly and effectively and to advocate for solutions where needed. Kind regards

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
This is a great area to live in. The city centre shops are just steps away, but the apartments are quiet with little to no noise from outside. The subway is about 5 mins away which is great for commuting.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
Quick responses to maintenance request and the team also follow up on actions that have been taken which is great.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
Lots of places nearby offer a discount for residents living here. I was really pleased to discover that there is someone on front-desk at all times as this makes the building feel very secure.
Manager response

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
Merchant City is a lively, central place to live with a great mix of independent shops, cafés, bars and restaurants right on your doorstep. There’s plenty of choice for eating and drinking, and regular local events keep the area feeling vibrant. Glasgow Green and other parks are only a short walk away, which is great. Transport links are also excellent, with easy access to buses, trains and the subway. The main downsides are limited to expensive parking, occasional noise at weekends, and some new colourful characters thanks to the recent opening of the new pharmacy next door.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
Building management has been excellent throughout my time at Candleriggs. Laurie has been brilliant at responding to any issues I’ve raised, with queries always acknowledged and resolved quickly where possible. When problems require further investigation, clear and regular updates are provided so residents know exactly what’s happening and why. Communication is always handled thoughtfully and professionally, with genuine care shown towards residents, which makes a big difference and gives real confidence in how the building is managed.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
The great discounts at local businesses and the wide range of events and activities that happen at Candleriggs.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
It is a convenient location in Merchant city because everything is so close that you don't need to have a car to go to bara, restaurants, supermarkets, parks, etc.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
The manager has been really helpful by replying all my emails
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
It is not bad but I wish they could have sent a manual of the electrodomestics and the report inspection before getting there to have time to read it calmly because it is chaotic organizing everything
Manager response

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
Candleriggs is situated directly in the town centre with everything needed very close at hand. Supermarkets, restaurants, postal services, typical high street stores, and chemists are all within a very short walk. The train station and the Subway are in close proximity and bus stops are situated along the pavements. Car parking is also available if needed. The bustle on the street is very friendly. Glasgow is famous for its welcome.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
Efficiently and promptly and always in a very courteous manner.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
To date we have not encountered any particular problems with either the apartment or staff.
Manager response
