Modern, tranquil perfect commuter development

A fairly recent development of some 500+ properties nestled a 10 minute walk away from Canada Water Station. The apartment types vary across the different buildings within the development, we have been tenants in two seperate buildings now, and both were very nice, modern and afforded us plenty of living space with wonderful views of Canary Wharf. The location is perfect for city commuters with a short walk to both Surrey Quays and Canada Water Stations. There is a small Tesco Express on site as well as numerous cafe’s, restaurants, a gym, spa and even a gentlemans barbers. There is also a 24 hour concierge, all of whom are wonderfully helpful. Marine Wharf is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main roads which you can walk to and hop on a bus into the likes of Greenwich. A little further a field, and on the way to the station is Surrey Quays shopping centre with many stores and a larger Tesco’s. Neither my partner or I, had lived in this area prior to moving here a almost two years ago. We moved for the close proximity to Central London and feel as though its presents the best value for location, anywhere that we viewed.

The amenities are freat, with a lovely couple of restaurants, a gym a small Tescos and the 24 hour concierge is also a great addition to the development.

Definitely try the restaurants, both the Pear Tree and Plough Way Cafe, are great. Greenland Pier is also a short walk away so for an alternative route into London or to the O2 arena, the Thames Clipper is a great option, Especially in Summer.

Cozy and convenient. Always love to come back home!

The area is very convenient. You have everything you need nearby (NHS, Tesco, cash machine, restaurants and cafes, a couple of gyms, salons). People are friendly and glad to support if any requests. This is my second year in Marine Wharf and I continue enjoying it.

Stolen bikes from the parking area are quite a repetitive issue.

Quiet atmosphere near the river

Lots of nice gardens outside these apartments and a general quiet atmosphere which I was pleased with. I loved the fact the river is so close and the views from the apartment balcony across the water were stunning. I know it’s the ‘done thing’ these days to have all beige and grey inside, but the design was a little cold for my taste. Impressed with the place in general though.

Contemporary living close to the River Thames

Marine Wharf is an attractive development from The Berkeley Group, whose vision was to create a vibrant community in the heart of London’s Docklands. And if you’re looking for a modern home close to the water, this collection of one, two and three-bedroom homes is ideal – near to the capital’s largest working marina, the much-loved South Dock, and a myriad of peaceful Thames walking trails.

Careful attention has been given to the look and feel of the place. Muted tones inside and out, plus a mix of brickwork, wood panelling and glass give the complex a contemporary face, while nodding to the area’s maritime associations. If you’re interested in the history of this part of the capital, head for the National Maritime Museum, just a little over a 10-minute drive from here along the river.

In terms of nice-to-haves on-site, there’s a Tesco Express, a 24-hour concierge service, and plenty in the way of bicycle storage. For an additional charge, there’s underground parking available, too. The outdoor areas are immaculately landscaped, with flowerbeds and grassy patches breaking up the footpaths.

Marine Wharf residents benefit from local amenities like an Odeon cinema, the Surrey Quays Shopping Centre (which hosts popular names like The Body Shop, Boots and Holland & Barratt) and Southwark Park, a 63-acre expanse of greenery. As for characterising the surrounding area, it’s a lovely mix of old and new. The new-build waterfront homes are plentiful, but so are the curious 17th-century pubs.

Commuters will find getting around stress-free here, with the Surrey Quays Overground station nearby (Whitechapel in 10 minutes, Canada Water in two), and Greenland Dock Pier (for Thames Clipper river taxi services) also within easy reach. As for getting away? London City Airport is a 20-minute drive from the Marine Wharf development.

Well built development

The flats are well built with high-spec materials. Very little internal noise. Concierge is helpful and friendly. The common areas both indoors and outdoors are clean and well maintained. However, the buildings are very close to one another and noise travels very easily from one building to another when windows and doors are open.

There’s a restaurant, grocery store, barber, yoga studio, gym and bus stop nearby. However, the area could do with more grocery stores and restaurants. The tube is a bit of a walk. The development itself is very nice but the surrounding areas not as much.

The high rise buildings opposite block our sunlight which means we hardly ever get any sun on our balcony.

Great place to live

My husband and I love it here. It’s a convenient commute into central London and enjoy the walk to cananda water station as you get to pass the dock land area. Very quiet on weekends too. It can noisy during the week, but only if the windows are open.

Neighbours that have pets can make the lift, stairs, communal areas dirty / smell funny.

Great location and development

High specification of residences. Communication areas stylish and up kept to an excellent standard. The outside spaces are excellent along with the community facility’s. Ever expanding options of local business of all types which adds to the convience of living here.

Excellent transport links – great local facilities such as restaurants, bar and shops. As well as good fitness facilities near by.

The local area surrounding the development can look quite downtrodden. However living here is great and never have any problems. There is a great community spirit.

Best Development in SE16

It’s a very modern development with great facilities and high quality flats. I love the “homie” feeling despite such a large number of flats. I live in Baroque Gardens and the connection to the city center is great, the area has more and more new Restaurants, Shops and leisure facilities.

It’s not as developed yet as West London in terms of life style but no doubt it will get there

The ideal place to live as a young professional

I feel extremely safe living here and the building is modern and also well maintained, kept tidy etc. The facilities here ar also fantastic we have a gym, concierge, a restaurant and a Tesco’s express /9 there is good sense of community.

There are a limited number of restaurants and cafes in walking distance from here. Often when I want to go out to eat I end up hoping on the overground to Shoreditch where there’s so much more going on

The concierge staff really are amazing people, which makes such a difference living here. I have also never felt so safe living in a building like this.

Quiet hidden gem in South East London

The development meets our expectation for a new-build of this quality. Overall impression is great as the development is complementary to the surrounding area, and placed in a relatively quiet neighborhood. The design and build quality is great with minimal structural/snagging issues. The facilities are excellent with 24-hour concierge, in-house small gym, few cafes/restaurants in the development as well as a Tesco Express grocery store.

Likes – Quiet at night, no issues with sleeping though living in London. Neighborhood feeling. Great restaurants and a Tesco Express in the development itself

Dislikes – Can be quite a walk to the nearest tube station. Though it is a reasoning for the quietness at night. Only 1 bus available every 10-12 minutes interval which is a slight issue when busy or raining

Probably would say how busy the tube station, Canada Water can get during peak hours. The station platform does not support amount of people interchanging at the station as it also has an Overground line which people change from
