10 Gorleston is a great place to live. The units are well built and the courtyard and parks nearby make the space very pleasant.

A gem!

Review Date Dec 2018

This place has such a nice feel to it – right next to a park and tucked down a side-street off the main stretch of North End Road. It’s hard to find affordable properties in West Kensington so Gorleston Street is a gem – to live there you have to earn under 90k as a joint income and priority goes to local residents in the area, which makes a change. As for the apartments – they’re as nice as you’d expect from such a new place. Everything’s modern without being overly ‘designed’. It just works. You can put your own stamp on the place, but in all honesty I wouldn’t change a thing.

For stylish but affordable housing in Hammersmith & Fulham, it’s got to be Gorleston Street

For stylish but affordable housing in Hammersmith & Fulham, it’s got to be Gorleston Street

Review Date Nov 2018

Gorleston Street is a new development made up of 28 affordable apartments in West Kensington, London, very close to Olympia London in the Hammersmith and Fulham area. The one-and two-bedroom properties are available to rent through Dolphin Living for tenants who meet certain eligibility requirements. That includes having lived or worked in either Hammersmith and Fulham or the Westminster borough for at least a year.

The development itself was completed in 2017, so the apartments are fresh and inviting. Expect warm, oak-toned Karndean floors throughout the open-plan kitchen and dining areas, and contemporary gloss kitchen units with sleek Zanussi appliances.

Some apartments have an inviting balcony with space for a table and chairs, and all are fitted with efficient, double-glazed windows. In fact, the development was awarded Code 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, out of a possible six levels, so energy efficiency is maximised throughout the building.

There’s a video-entry phone system and a lift to all floors and, outside, a pleasant communal garden for residents to make the most of. Gorleston Street is right next to Marcus Gravey Park, an attractive open space that’s popular with families. The Cumberland Arms – a popular pub that serves food – is just around the corner on North End Road, and there are more pubs, restaurants, bars and shops a five-minute walk away on Hammersmith Road, where the Olympia London exhibition venue takes centre stage.

In terms of transport links, Gorleston Street is well connected to the rest of London. Kensington (Olympia) Underground station is about four minutes away and has access to the District line, Southern Rail, London Overground and Silverlink services. West Kensington Underground station is about ten minutes in the other direction, on the District and Circle lines. Plus, Barons Court and Hammersmith Broadway are both within easy walking distance, and there are several local bus routes – including good links to Westfield London in nearby Shepherd’s Bush.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Kensington (Olympia) Underground station is about four minutes away if you’re walking, and the Olympia London exhibition venue is right on the doorstep.
