The design of the development is very nice with a mixture of different size houses throughout. A lovely play park for the children. The builders are still here and they see to any problems promptly.
The development is at the top of a steep hill and unfortunately the only access into the estate if you are walking is up 4 blocks of steps. This causes problems for families with pushchairs or wheelchair users. Our community has tried to lobby for the developer to install some kind of ramp but they are uninterested .

Tavistock is a lovely town with a good range of independent shops, private and state schools and transport links to Plymouth.
Good parking availability on our street. There has been some anti social behaviour on the estate from some but we have a good community atmosphere.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

It’s hard to see what the views from your windows will be like when you’re buying off plan.

What is the best feature of your home:

The house has very good size rooms, is bright because of the large windows and has beautiful views across Dartmoor.

The development is great as a whole but there are many aspects that could be changed,the overall house is great but I’m not keen on open plan,the facilities such as the park is not suitable for 2 year olds,nothing in there for them,and the bank on the side is dangerous,as twice now my son fell down it.Property management is ok but have still been waiting along time for repairs to be done,not very good communication skills.Also,the gardens are actually shocking,they have put turf in that have little works that eat of the roots of the grass so literally left with mud.

The development is close to the local shops,Which is a good aspect,the steps that have been created are good but not great for people who have prams or is in a wheelchair,a ramp or something need to be provided.
Parking is one of the main issues around here,lots of people who have allocated parking spaces still use visitors parking,so no room for anyone else,the parking spaces also by the garages have caused chaos as they have made them big enough for two cars and in squished in the middle.

Parking spaces,how many I was actually allocated! And parking in general.
Sound proofing in the house is horrendous.

I’ve had no issues with the property at all, some crack in the walls but I think that’s the same for most people in new builds.
They have good size rooms,
I can hear a lot of noise outside and I can here my neighbour so not great sound proofing.

this development is good the bin collections are brilliant, only thing I would say is there is no street lights also parking is an issue not a lot of parking for visitors.

Only bad thing is there are steps into the development and it’s not great for pushchairs or the disabled.

Buildings look nice on the outside however designs internally really range on the spec of house.
Any snags and issues have been seen to by the developer. Ranging from door / window / floor and cracks from settlement.
It is a lovely place to live with the views.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Tavistock is a fantastic area to live surrounded by the moor.
The local town is a great place for a mooch or to get your shopping fix.
Many local pubs and restaurants offer great services.
The stairs leading in and out of the site however are steep and difficult for prams and impossible for wheelchairs.
Zero noise and light pollution.
Lovely people in the area.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

End of terrace sun facing has lead to a lot of movement and cracks.

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

Larger patio and moving the path to the side of the garden rather than the middle.
Parking area easily fits a garage but we don’t have one.

Window right next to shower is a nuisance. Have had lots of problems and are still waiting for that to be fixed. Really love the layout of the house, and it has a lovely big kitchen. Have had cracks come up in a lot of corners and walls, also had a leak from upstairs bathroom. But overall it’s a lovely designed house and we are very lucky to live in one

Far from any food shops, no slope (awful seeing as it’s a family estate, have to drag a pram up the steps leading to estate.) although we have had a letter saying no parking on pavements people still do it, which means having to walk on road. People in flats cause nuisance. On the other hand, we are only a short walk from town, and it’s a nice estate.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That planning permission for slope was apparently denied, meaning not easy access for families who don’t drive and are having to walk.

Modern properties and garden sizes

Overall great property. Good sized all round up to date technology and heating systems . Downside:very poor draught proofing , excessive wind coming through window sills . Front and back door locks needed to be changed due to what I was told as a budget doors. The roads are not yet finished most have pot holes and are uneven .

Design is very thought out with properties looking very modern however gardens are not equally distributed among similar sized properties

That development was not finished this is because it leads to noise during the day and roads not being finished

Personally I really rate the development and how the properties have been built to allow enough space between neighbours etc.
The homes also look very smart and wealthy and almost reminds me of London.
In regards to facilities, there is a park which is ideal for children.

Tavistock as a whole is a sort after place with basic amenities. The development is situated in the heart of the town.

The running costs of a home are a lot more than I thought! Haha

I can’t specific one best feature as from a first time buyer, everything is great.

We are extremely happy with our new David Wilson home it is exactly what we hoped for. We purchased a plot with a garden that backs onto a Devon hedge and field meaning it’s is very quiet yet we are in close proximity to the town.

We are able to live in a lovely area which has little to no noise from traffic.

The only design fault that we see is that the property next door has a gate which is placed on our driveway which could have been placed next to their house on the path.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The building management dealt with a problem we had to a fairly high standard.

The estate is very nice, houses look great and a good park for younger children. There is steps down from the estate that lead in to town however these do not have any lighting and can be very dark. The main road all around the estate has not yet been finished/ tarmaced and the pavements seem huge!

Nice and close to the town and moors
Good local bus station
Good local market and some local good shops however there is a lot of charity shops!! Nice restaurants

The development is not yet finished, so at this moment in time the roads could use a lot of work. Uneven tarmac, pot holes, etc. However, the design and aesthetic of the development is top grade. Once complete and these issues are overcome, the road layout should be good. On street parking is not an issue at the moment and hopefully won’t become one.

Tavistock is a lovely town. Friendly locals, a good selection of shops in an attractive town centre, decent schools, everything that you could hope for. The development is a 15 minute walk into town, down a fairly steep hill and a particularly steep flight of stairs. Parking on the street is generally good as most houses have big drives. Bin collections are efficient. Seen no anti social behaviour at all and traffic is regular but not loud.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Make sure you read any shared ownership paperwork. There can be surprising restrictions on gardens and what you can do to the house.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Considering I moved in at the start of the pandemic, the responses have been exceptional.
