Hi … right we’re do I start; from the moment I walked into the James over 6 months ago and greeted by both Ellie and Jenn I felt at ease and just fell In love with the place at the reception and the welcoming nature of both these ladies. I viewed all 3 sizes of properties from the cozy medium and the grand and wanted the corner top floor apartment over looking the river Mersey and liver buildings which has always been a dream of mine since I child. The whole complex is stunning, smart, clean and tidy always somewhere I can call home and feel safe living in the city.
I could not fault the staff and complex and I would definitely recommend this to anyone whom wishes to live and work in the city. Thanks Jen and Ellie for simply just being you x

An amazing home, an enjoyable lifestyle and the best launchpad for my career

The James has a design language and identity that I think nails what they offer. The design shows attention to detail, genuine thought, elegance, and modern convenience, e.g. the exclusive app.

I saw this with the choice of furniture and fixtures (in the private studios and communal lounge). Everything feels premium.

Put it this way: When someone asked where I live, I felt proud while answering them.

Communal facilities like the lounge and gym are well-equipped. Having them in the same property is incredibly convenient.

The lounge gave me a space where I could earn 3 promotions in a year and a half. From starting out as a Copywriter, I became a Product Marketing Specialist, then a Brand Marketing Specialist. And the workstation in my studio, combined with the design, got me into my most productive mindset.

I could work with fellow residents in the lounge, and we’d learn from each other while enjoying the workday more.

Our bonds became strong quite quickly because we took part in the weekly social events together too. I really cherish the relationships that came with making The James my home.

On the whole, The James was more than an amazing home to me. It was a space that added value to every area of my life.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

I can’t think of a location with better access to the finest experiences in Liverpool. I have so many fun memories at All Bar One, Restaurant Bar and Grill, The Alchemist, Gaucho — the list goes on and on. And each of them was a few minutes away at most. Being in this spot means walking in the area feels safe at any time.

Being at The James helped me meet people to have these adventures, which made it all much more fun.

Then there’s Liverpool One just 3 minutes away if you take the path between the Queen Victoria statue and the courthouse. Loads and loads of eateries, shopping facilities, and leisure activities.

Nights out and things like that are better suited to Bold Street, Matthew Street, and Concert Square. The furthest is only a 15-minute walk away at most.

Just cross the road and you’re at the — in my opinion — majestic docks. Great place for fresh air, a jog outside, or just looking at something beautiful and natural.

Basically, it feels like everything is at your fingertips.

You can explore it all or just figure out your preferences. But this is the part of town where it’s all possible and convenient.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The James was more than a home. It was a base for my entire lifestyle and development. That was a wonderful surprise.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Anything I popped into the exclusive app was handled very quickly, within the hour.

A lovely place to live

The design of the building was a draw for me when I first came to see the building. It is evident that a great deal of attention was put into the details of this apartment building. It is beautifully designed and decorated. The lounge room is spacious, tastefully decorated, well-lit, and welcoming. The outdoor area is also very nicely decorated. It is a lovely place to spend time, and it is rather quiet. The gym, while on the smaller side, has everything I could possible need while exercising.

The rooms are nicely designed and decorated. The paint colors, furniture, the beautiful bathroom all come together to make a beautiful home. The rooms are on the smaller side, but this is helped by access to the spacious common area and outdoor living area.

The building and property management are exceptional. They are prompt in their communication and very professional. I have not yet had an issue with my apartment, but I have the feeling that if I were to reach out to management that I would be in good hands.

The staff here are very warm and welcoming. They make this apartment feeling like a home.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

This is an excellent location as it is quite central and is rather tidy. It is near an area with diverse bars and restaurants of high quality. It is very close to the Albert Dock area which is definitely a selling point. It is also very near James Street station and there are many bus stops in the area.

The one draw back is that is is near a rather busy area in terms of traffic.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had considered the traffic noise.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

I have not yet had any issues with the apartment, but I am confident that the building management would respond promptly and in a professional manner.

Modern and Bright Accommodation in the City Centre

When looking last minute for a place to live in September 2021, I never thought I’d come across somewhere that was in the city centre, was of good quality and at a reasonable price. Therefore, finding The James, a brand new listing came as a complete shock to me.

The building has a modern and light design. The rooms are bright and have windows from wall to wall. Wardrobe space is amazing. The kitchenette is quite small (as expected) but is enough for one person living here. The only thing that was a bit of a problem at first was the limited cupboard space but having lived here for a year now I have gotten used to it.

The staff at reception are lovely, always eager to greet you pleasantly when you walk in and are always more than happy to help with anything.

In terms of facilities, the garbage disposal is available via the lift (on -1) so very easy & accessible. There are washing machines and dryers on the first floor which is also very handy, the only downside is that they aren’t included in the bills and must be paid for when used.

The only criticism I have, which is a very small one, is that there is also a gym, outside terrace and lounge available on the property, but are only accessible if you hold a James membership. I would have assumed that anyone living here would automatically be a member, however this isn’t the case and an additional fee must be paid to become a member (and thus, gain access to the additional facilities mentioned).

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Living within walking distance to essentially anywhere in the city is amazing. The James is right on the dock, is directly opposite James Street Station and is only a very short walk (5 mins max) to Liverpool One and the high street.

Castle Street is also just around the corner with a wide range of bars and restaurants, with outside seating for the majority making it very nice during the summer (the same goes for Liverpool One too).

The location is amazing and the only drawback that I can think of really, that comes hand in hand with being in such an amazing location, is the noise pollution. I personally don’t mind it and if you enjoy the hustle & bustle of living in a city centre, neither will you. But for someone looking for somewhere that’s quieter, the city centre (or James Street specifically) might not be the ideal place.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Good- how amazing the location is, how much wardrobe space there is and how beautiful the design is.

Bad- that you have to pay additional charges to access some areas of the building and to use the washing machines/ dryers.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They have been quick to respond and help with any and all issues that I have raised in the past.
