About Springfield
Springfield properties build affordable homes across Scotland. Springfield moved into house building in the early 1990s, and today build 900 new homes a year.
We really like our home and location. The development itself has left us disappointed. We are surrounded by mud. Trees have been planted but are drowning in surface water. Grass seed was put down but had to be dig up because of a raw sewage spill. We have been in our home nearly a year and our lounge window looks out onto it. Inside the finish on the tiles were poor. There are also lumps and bumps on plaster in the kitchen. We’ve been told that as its cosmetic and less than 2mm they wont fix it. Still waiting on snagging issues reported in March 2022 to be rectified. Our gas meter hasn’t been registered properly so havent had a bill since we moved in. Get nowhere with british gas or Springfield.
Very quiet residential area to live in. Nice mix of houses. Long walk to a shop. No public transport at the weekends and no buses after 5pm.
That the sewage system is pumped along the road and if there is ever an issue it will explode right in front of your lounge window
The internal design of the house is excellent. Plenty of space.
The house design is good, the development looks nice. Could do with more greenery. Some quite serious snagging issues, that were not dealt with well. Very little explanation of heating system given, including misinformation, with faults this resulted in high bills & lack of control. Misinformation given regarding EV charging capacity (there was none). Very disappointing aftercare from top level management.
Very pleasant & quiet street with adequate parking & reliable bin collection. No facilities within walking distance. Not enough green spaces or street-side tree planting. No signage on road which makes it hard to find.
Inadequate insulation in the ceiling above the garage, resulting in bedroom above being very cold.
Would doubt it meets building regs.
The design of the house is good. The layout works well and the external finish looks great.
The house itself is well designed, however there is a lack of windows downstairs which open, meaning we have to open the patio doors to allow air into the house. There is some clever storage spaces within the house. A big negative is the factor fee we pay. We pay in excess of £250 per year for maintenance of the common areas and this is of a poor standard and feels as though we are paying for those in flats or apartments to have their garden maintained.
Having lived in this area for over 3 years now, we absolutely love our home. The location is excellent, being so close to Dundee city centre and main travel routes, yet far enough away to feel like we’re right in the countryside. There is an excellent local shop, however we had hoped by now there would be some other amenities in the development. There are good open spaces and parks for children and walking dogs. The biggest drawbacks are the lack of public transport links and the district lack of a local school which is an ongoing saga which seems as though it will never be resolved despite the promise of this by 2025 when we purchased the house. This was a big factor in buying the house. Our street is very quiet and there have been no issues with anti social behaviour. The other broken promise is the upgraded swallow roundabout. Another ongoing saga. Most days there are extremely large queues and the junction is not fit for purpose given the amount of people who live in the area now.
The broken promises and the ridiculous compulsory factor fees we pay for very little benefit. Lack of school, lack of local amenities and lack of upgraded travel links. This has been a massive disappointment in our time here.
The large windows and bright spaces which lead out to a nice sized garden. We love the location of our home and would definitely look to purchase another house here when we decide to upsize.
Design of houses and estate great but there seems to be wasted space in our driveway that could be better thought through. The area as it is now so large could do with a more local shop in the immediate area to support residents. Transport links excellent with buses. Maybe a train station would have also improved transport? There is also a discrepancy between size of outside spaces between same design houses which seems unfair though I understand sometimes the geography around the house dictates this.
Nice and quiet but a closer convenience shop would be good. Transport links excellent

Location is fantastic as on end of quiet culdesac with no passing traffic and good views. Also house is very well insulated so can easily be kept warm through the winter even with very low temperatures and high winds
