Pleased I moved

I have a three bedroom chalet bungalow and chose this because i wanted one room for a study. There is plenty of storage space but i believe this is not the case in the two bedroom bungalows.
The design suits me as a first timer to open plan living. The quality of fittings seem ok but there could be an improvement in the kitchen sink area. Plenty of thought has been given to the fact that it is a development for the over 55s but a few things could be improved eg no grip handles in the showers, stair rail difficult to grip, room thermostats could be of an easier design.
Window cleaning is carried out monthly, gardens are maintained well by Pentland, bins in/out are done by Pentland. Facilities such as “events” are arranged by the residents committee eg picnic on the lawn. Pentland are building a hub for residents use but unfortunately this is taking years to come to fruition and also the allocated space will be less than was hoped for.
Pentland Customer Care Staff have been very good in helping with the few problems that i have had — both courteous and timely in their actions
The Estate Agents have not been so good especially in poor or even incorrect communication of information to residents

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Lidls supermarket close and good. Buses to Canterbury and Folkestone close and good service.
Secure entrance to village , Parking good in carport and spots for visitors, bins in/out carried out by Pentland, anti-social behaviour negligible, some traffic noise from Spitfire Way

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish i had known the hub was going to be so far away in time–but if i had known then i will still have purchased my bungalow
i had been in my previous house for over 50 years and was very unsure about a move but i am so glad i did.
Every one is so friendly and willing to help (especially) during the pandemic and it is rare to pass someone without a wave or a hello.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Customer Care have responded well in getting a few problems fixed eg leaky guttering, damaged kitchen unit, damaged room thermostats

Terlingham Gardens is a lovely gated development for the over 55’s

Terlingham Gardens is a lovely gated development for the over 55’s. It comprises 2 and 3 bedroom semi detached bungalows, 2 bedroom cottages and apartments. The gardens are beautiful and maintained by a gardener. The homes are well designed and superbly finished. A company looks after the maintenance of the developmen. There is a Residents Association which liases with the developers and we have many social activities during the year.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Terlingham Gardens is a five minute walk to Lidl Supermarket, which is on the same development of a range of shops. There is a small convenience shop, hairdressers, carpet shop, chemist incorporating the post office, vets, small cafe, kitchen designer shop and local pub. Bus stops opposite Lidl’s have services to Canterbury and Folkestone/Hythe with three buses an hour.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That the Residents Hub would not be available for 2/3 years. It should have been built at the very start of the development.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

We have had very few problems since we moved in, and the issues were dealt with efficiently, although Covid 19 held up some thing.

All good so far!

It was the design which attracted us to the development initially as we love the retro look and the layout of the development and in particular where we are situated within the development. As the development is still in the early phases on site facilities have yet to be implemented although the plans look promising. The management of the estate on the whole would seem good, although again we have not been here long enough to be involved too much with this aspect.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Good location being within walking distance of Morrisons for everyday shopping and a pleasant walk along the River Stour into the centre of Canterbury. We love the design of the house although one or two interior features might have been better thought out. We have had issues with blocked drains which we are hoping have now been sorted out but overall the developers have been very good and prompt in sorting any issues we may have. We have some great neighbours and everyone looks out for each other which is good however, we have an ongoing issue with street lighting or lack of it in this particular spot which many of our neighbours have brought to the attention of the developers. Parking is fine with adequate parking for guests should they come and visit whilst bin collections have been good. We have experienced one or two problems with unwanted visitors late in the evening or early morning looking for opportunities to access cars and our neighbours home, and wheel spinning cars during the early hours of the morning.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

We wish would had paid a little more attention to reception room within the house whereby the central position of the door and the boxing in the opposite corners restricts us in positioning a nice corner sofa.

What is the best feature of your home:

We love the facade of the house which is we feel was the main attraction for us however, coming from a much smaller property we love the light and bright kitchen area which provides us with space that we never thought we would have!

Excellent Development

I like the design of the development. It mixes modern lines with stony old designs. Interior of the properties shows good use of the spaces with energy saving features such as underfloor heating and glazed glasses.
The development lies in routes to Ashford and London and within few minutes driving from Canterbury city centre.
Property Management shows good care of open area, but there is limited parking spaces generally in the development with no visitor slots.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Good aspects:
Excellent location with direct routes to M20 to London and A28 to Ashford.
Walking distance to Morrison’s Supermarket.
Close to Wincheap industrial area with many local shops.
Bad Aspects:
Limited parking availability with no visitor slots.
Kids area not yet established.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Parking is not convenient in the car barn with difficulty in parking the car as it is too narrow and other car slots are close to it. No Garage.

What is the best feature of your home:

Convenient and spacious interior design of 4 bed room detached house. Good garden size.
