Trust, but verify – the HomeViews verification process

Property professionals

President Ronald Reagan famously said “Trust, but verify” – a motto the HomeViews team also stands by. We know how important it is for you to trust what you read, and that’s especially true when it comes to reading reviews. That’s why we have a number of principles and processes in place to give you confidence in the content on the HomeViews site.

Trust but verify

1. Transparency

We understand that while lots of opinions about a development are useful, the views of say, a renter compared to those of an owner may be very different. For that reason, you should know exactly who is behind each review you read, so we make sure it’s clear. As well as private tenants, you’ll find HomeViews reviews written by development visitors (those who have attended a viewing), as well as dedicated HomeViews researchers and expert property professionals. We aim for a good mix of reviews from a great mix of reviewers to help with decision-making.

2. Review criteria

It’s so important to us that reviews on HomeViews are credible and trustworthy. That’s why we check every single one against a set of guidelines and review criteria.

3. Resident verification

We always seek to verify residents’ reviews (tenants and owners). Look out for the green tick next to a review to see if they have been verified. To confirm residents are real, we request your first and last name, postcode and flat number, and then use a special system via a tech partner to confirm the details given.

4. Our community

We rely on our community to support us. If you read a review on your development which doesn’t sound right, let us know by selecting the red flag and reporting it to the HomeViews team. We’ll then investigate further.
