Great Location, nice buildings, communication could be better

The properties themselves are really nice and well built, however there seems to be periods of the scaffolding being up for long periods and this was during the heat of the summer, they had blocked our windows, there also appears to be works being carried early in the mornings (8am) when one of us works nights and has to sleep this is problematic and causes some tension between residence and workers, they could also do with a place to freely exercise dogs as this is something that is important for a lot of people we have spoken to, ie a secure enclosed area of grass that you can let you dog run free due to having no garden area and it being advertised as being pet friendly.

The building management don’t seem to communicate very often and things are often left unchecked and blame pushed on to others such as bins, paths being clear of snow and ice as well as obtaining meter readings (which is crazy why they would be locked away) The staff at the head office are lovely and will do everything in their power to help and assist you.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The location to the town is good and is easy to travel to places either on foot or by car and is reasonably peaceful.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I would say sit down and go through the welcome pack when moving in as our check in was less than 5 minutes and didn’t really explain anything, luckily other residence where on hand to help if we needed to know anything as well as referring back to the welcome pack as needed.

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

Secure area to be able to exercise dogs as this is touted as a pet friendly property.

Nice but not perfect.

Review Date Feb 2021

The Wellsley estate itself is lovely, close to transport links and nature reserves, aldershot itself is very basic and has some issues with drug users and rough sleepers.

The apartments are new and therefore it should be expected they don’t have many faults, however do to some shoddy finishing work many tenants continuously find things like cabinets, door handles, towel rails needing repair.

Trying to contact someone to have the repairs done in a timely fashion is nearly impossible.

That being said I love the floor to ceiling windows, the high ceilings and the open plan living.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The apartment itself is lovely, although the finishing work leaves something to be desired, cabinets have fallen off, problems with cracked skirting boards.

The management is absolutely terrible.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How long the construction work would be going on across the street.

What is the best feature of your home:

The windows, and high ceilings. Nice bathrooms and an en-suite.

Life at Wellesley

The design of the flat is good, except there is not much storage space. The kitchen does have plenty of cupboards. The communal areas of the building are kept clean and tidy.
Its lovely to have my dogs with me but unfortunately there is no where that is safe to let them off the lead without travelling a short distance.
My dealings with the management team has been a bit mixed. I have a named contact and when he is working things work well. However I have on several occasions been asked to call an office number which, if its not answered goes to a short held voicemail. I have never been contacted back after leaving a message.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

There are several supermarkets nearby. there is a whole range of restaurants as well but due to Covid none are currently open. The estate is very peaceful and there is very little road noise. It is pet friendly which for me is a very positive thing. I have not seen any anti social behaviour, everyone I have met has been extremely friendly.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

A secure area for allowing the dogs to run off lead.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

My named contact has been very helpful. But some work that has been needed has taken longer than expected

Modern building & pet friendly!

I really love the apartment we’re currently renting, I do feel it’s a bit expensive for the space however we do have a balcony and built in wardrobe / appliances. The best part about the development is the acceptance of pets, it’s so difficult to rent a property that allowed pets. Another benefit of my apartment is I genuinely feel as if the property has been well built. I never hear any other neighbours and hopefully they don’t hear my dogs barking constantly!

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

It would be nice if there was a local shop in the new development for people who don’t drive as the nearest shop is a approximately a 20 minute walk.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Nothing really.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

For the first few months I kept getting contractors trying to enter my flat as they were told my management to do so / or for inspections. They were coming so frequently I was starting to get a bit frustrated. I contacted my go to person for the building management and never got a response…

Review of Wellesley Development

Unfortunately dealt with the usual new build problems. Ongoing leaks being the main concern. After communication difficulties and a lot of going back and fourth with Grainger, the problems were finally resolved. Despite this, I very much enjoy living here. Homely, safe and a community feel.

Also- very easy process moving in. No delays & good communication throughout this process.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Like: layout of development, privacy, community feel, safe & secure. Modern features. Shops and train station within walking distance. Lovely local walks.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The ongoing leaks the property development had been experiencing.

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

Would love a balcony in the two beds as well as one bed flats! Good selling point.

An Adequate Place To Live

Verified Resident

The building is new so it’s quite clean and facilities all tend to work. It allows pets so there are lots of nice dogs around. Utilities work out more expensive than average as heating is through electric radiators while water relies on an electric immersion heater, and internet is Fibre To The Premises which is fast but costly and many providers require longer contracts. The building is fairly well insulated but there can be noise from the wood floors and from ongoing building works nearby.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

There’s woodland and military land nearby, which is nice. You can walk along the canal to Basingstoke. There’s a burger king.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Because the address is new and was initially misspelled on google maps, delivery drivers will often struggle to find you. Use the address for the health centre and direct them from there.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

I only raised one simple technical problem, which was fixed promptly, but for some reason required numerous separate visits during the pandemic to check, fix and then inspect. They informed me several times that someone would be visiting, sometimes with insufficient notice, only for no-one to show up.

There bin store locks are constantly broken, I think they need to be changed to a different lock. Other tenants do not pick up dog poo or cigarette butts, however this is not grainger’s fault. The parking space design is not good, my parking space is very far away from my building but I am pleased we have 2 allocated spaces. Thank you so much for allowing pets and not charging ridiculous amounts for the privilege. Your staff can be quite difficult to get hold of, but we have no other complaints about staff. Walls are very thin… if we are in our bedroom we can hear next door in their kitchen quite clearly.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Like: close to shops, bus/rail stations, healthcare and some nice walks and sports grounds.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

None.

What is the best feature of your home:

The radiators and the air circulation. Built in microwave!

We lived in Wesllesly development a 4 bed room house one thing that I really like in this house is they are very generous with the space in the living room and the kitchen has a wide space and the rooms is great in our previous house that we rented is the same price but the rooms is very small but this Wellesley development we are very happy and satisfied with the house space is big . You have a nice garden at the back the design. Of the house is nice we are lucky that it’s a new built when we moved . The interior is great very refreshing white paint and modern kitchen design and we have a big garage that’we convert it to storage .

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

We move to Aldershot 2019. before we decided to move here we explore the Area. It’s a good place closed to the town
Centre we lived walking distance only from the shops like Tesco, Morrison there are some restaurants as well like Nando’s pizza express Asian buffet restaurant and lots of Asian shops and there is cinema . There are some gym near by and the health Center is nearby and big compared to the previous Heath Center where I go . And I’m very happy that there are some school and nursery that is close to where I lived only few minutes walk which is very convenient specially to those who don’t drive yet . The area is clean fresh nice to walk around looking at some green trees and nice neighbourhood.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Nothing to add

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

I think the heater is not strong enough to warm the place and the boiler is so noisy .

A great living experience

I love building layout and spacious enough to allow other residents to pass. It has a very modern feel to the property (which is my aesthetic). I havent had much interaction which the management since moving in, but from what I have experienced it all been positive.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The area is very quiet, Unfortunately there’s a lot of building at the moment, so there is some noise pollution, though we are near a park, but because if construction its harder to get to. But overall a very nice area

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

What the program setting are on the towel rail, still struggling to figure out.

What is the best feature of your home:

The best feature I my opinion is the accessibility, as my partner has CFS, this is a must have.

My work needs me to move from my ideal home and area!

The buildings are designed around the pre-existing architecture of old Aldershot military buildings, Grainger seems to try to save some of the old charm with similar designs. The facilities are well kept, the management is tight and I felt cared for by the team.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

I really enjoyed the neighbourhood and how it was developed. It retained old trees to give it a homely, established feel. Wellesley is a new neighbourhood and the people are mainly young families, working professionals and a few couples. I loved it, always felt safe.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

This flat is perfect, and well kept. The landlord is great, I adore the light and spaciousness of the balcony flat I had and the only issue I have is with other tenants not respecting the refuse area and disposing of their trash neatly. Bigger picture? It’s perfect.

What is the best feature of your home:

I have a balcony flat that looks over a green space and I have an incredible view. Also, I live very near the health centre and my neighbourhood is close to town.
