Limehouse Basin ticks all the boxes for waterside living, and Limehouse DLR station is on the doorstep

Limehouse Basin is a residential development by the water of Limehouse Marina in East London. It’s one of several buildings on the basin built by Bellway Homes along Branch Road, close to the entrance to Rotherhithe Tunnel. The development is right opposite Limehouse DLR station, with direct links to Canary Wharf and Greenwich.

The properties here feature double-glazed windows, which is a big benefit considering the bustling location next to the tracks of Limehouse DLR. Apartments vary in size and are well-kept, and some have balconies overlooking communal gardens and water features. The development also benefits from a concierge and laundry service, adding a further layer of convenience for Limehouse Basin residents.

Outside, the water of the marina bobs with colourful boats and the canal leads off towards south Hackney. In the other direction, the water funnels into the River Thames, with plenty of restaurants and gastropubs offering riverside drinking and dining. You can also pick up the Thames Path from here if you fancy a walk with a view – it takes about 45 minutes to walk to the Tower of London, for example.

Canary Wharf is nice and easy to get to from Limehouse Basin – you can walk it in 20 minutes. Take a detour via the Museum of London Docklands, or get there via the DLR. If you’re heading into other areas of London, you can get to Bank in around ten minutes.

Commercial Road, where you’ll find the DLR station, also has its fair share of shops and pubs, and leads off towards Shadwell and Stepney in one direction or Canary Wharf in the other. Cross the Thames, meanwhile, and South London is yours to explore. You can take a ferry over from the Canary Wharf terminal to Doubletree Docklands Nelson Dock Pier.

Limehouse DLR station is right on the doorstep, which makes reaching areas like Canary Wharf and Greenwich really convenient. The marina makes a pretty feature, and the Thames Path runs close to the property.

Great experience in London

Verified Resident

The development is not the most modern. However, the building I stay in is very comfortable, with the view of the canal. In addition, although facing the DLR train station, there is a minimum level of noise due to the building having double glazed windows. This development is also benefited from having a 24 hour concierge and laundry service which makes it hassle-free when it comes to collect your posts and doing dry cleaning. Location wise, this is in zone 2, being 5 minutes away from Bank Station and 10 minutes away from Canary Wharf by tube makes this a very convenient building to live in.

Location is very good.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The wall might be a bit thin, making the room cold in winter without heaters.
