We believe the best information about a residential development comes from the people living there. Owners and tenants have a lot of useful information to share with their prospective neighbours, not just on the property itself and its locality, but also on the developer and the building’s management.

The houses are attractive and mostly very well cared-for. Green open spaces along the main Avenue including childrens park and school. Traffic can be heavy as the main road is the way in / out for all residents. Lack of parking in some areas (particularly by flats)

Overall Badbury Park is a nice place to live and care was taken - originally - with the look and feel of the site. You can go for nice walks around the estate leading into local parkland. However a few things have let it down of more recent years: 1) no bins; anywhere! This is a huge site, why no bins? 2) A huge lack of any facilities. The site has been here for 8 years, we are finally just getting a new co-op and maybe one other other small shop! 3) The continuation to make the site even bigger. I never imagined we'd still be living on a building site here. I appreciate the need for more homes, but they should have better organised access onto site, as it still means lorries are tearing down the main (and only) access points. 4) Parking, road size, and road safety. They've given little, to-no, thought about any of the three. 5) Lastly, I think the biggest issue - which will continue to be a problem, long term - is the lack of site accessibility. The site is becoming huge, covering a mile or two. There are two entrances right next to each other. The site needs to be connected to the rest of Swindon at the other end of the project, otherwise it's going to cause a nightmare. The build itself of where we live is ok. Persimmon get a bad rep, but it's bricks and water! I don't see the value of a Redrow house (also on site), sure they look nicer from the outside, but the build quality isn't hugely different (for £100k more). Big downsides with Persimmon has been around some awful design with the kitchen, meaning we are having to rip it out and start again 5 years on. The other big problem, which you always hear with newbuilds is storage. Why haven't they worked this out yet? Surely the houses will be easier to sell?! Personally, I wasn't massively sold on new build before I bought here, as I'd like more open space and to feel less overlooked. This remains the case - probably enhanced by the lockdowns. We won't be moving any time soon, but it won't be our final resting place!

The estate is aesthetically pleasing for the most part although a bit bland on some roads. Some trees planted but very immature so will take a long time to make an impression. Facilities wise - shops are being built so it will be good to see what these entail.

Badbury Park is ideally situated with close links to Swindon town centre, the M4, A419 and beyond. The development is well designed with lots of open spaces, green areas, two play parks and wide streets/roads. There is an excellent school on the estate and a shop and community centre are due to open soon.

One of the main reasons we decided to move here was due to the design of the site feeling less like other new build complexes where everything is built on top of each other. On reflection, I think it would be the last time I would buy a new build, because for my liking there are still too many properties clustered - it's not an issue apart from when you feel overlooked in the garden. Facilities, we have none. I'm hoping this will improve on the site, there's rumours of shops. I'm also hoping that someone will see a gap in the market for more shops and facilities on the east side of Swindon as there are a lot of homes here. Building management from Persimmon is frankly awful. The build quality not great to say the least. They seem to chuck the homes up and not care too much after. Little thought is put into just about every aspect of the process; and there is an obvious divide in quality of the properties on this site Redrow vs Persimmon. You obviously pay more for Redrow but it's silly things like the quality of the soil and grass they use which is so cheap, but would make a real difference.
