About Southbank Place

Southbank Place is a development by Braeburn Estates, a joint venture by Canary Wharf Group and Qatari Diar. Braeburn Estates is responsible for overseeing the redevelopment of 5.25 acres in the cultural heart of London. The site faces out over Jubilee Gardens and the River Thames, diagonally opposite the houses of parliament and adjacent to the London Eye. It will include a mix of offices, homes and retail space. In addition, there will be a new ‘city square’ at the heart of the scheme, which will provide more open space and an enhanced public realm.

Southbank Place developments

One Casson Square and 30 Casson Square are both developments within the Southbank Place masterplan. Residents have access to a range of onsite amenities. These include various retail stores as well as speciality delicatessens. Moreover, this development offers residents a health and fitness club. This features an infinity pool, gym and a personal training area.

London’s most comfortable residential area

If I were to introduce 30 Casson Square. The first thing I would recommend is building management and property management. When I first moved into my room. It was a few days before Christmas and it was very cold, but the heating in the room broke down. I spoke to the property management for help. They sent someone over promptly to help me with the repairs. But this heating problem was huge and at the same time, it was found that the smart control panel in the room also needed to be repaired. So after the emergency treatment, I was able to use the domestic hot water. And the concierge downstairs lends me two heaters. This made an otherwise cold December warm. I thank the building management enough. Also, I thought the room and the building’s facilities were very nice. And I liked the gym and the pool in the building. After I finished my exhausting studies, I would meet up with my neighbours to go downstairs for a run or a swim. It was very enjoyable.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

With tier4 closed. The restaurants and bars in Jubilee garden downstairs are opening one after another. This has given me an excellent experience. As I am a postgraduate student coming to London to study. I lived in Shanghai before. A comparison between the two places. I found that the area where I live now is much busier and more lively. Waterloo Station is just downstairs, which makes it very convenient for me to go to campus and other places. There are various supermarkets and many good restaurants and bars right around the house. And I don’t have to worry about anti-social behaviour when I go out at night. There is no litter on the road. No honking cars are driving around. I like living at 30 Casson Square, it gives me a good alternative to my stressful studies and a good opportunity to enjoy the restaurants and bars downstairs.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Is the apartment furnitured? Because before I moved in, I was told that the apartment was unfurnished. If I had bought my own bed or table, the landlord wouldn’t have wanted it. So for my subsequent unnecessary trouble, I did not install a bed and only bought a mattress. This is the only thing I feel dissatisfied with when I rent this apartment.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Very polite and quick to respond. I could tell by the way they helped me with my problem that they were very welcoming and friendly.

My stay at 30 Casson Square has been capped by the kindness and professionalism of the concierge team who have always been on hand to help me in every way.

My stay at 30 Casson Square has been capped by the kindness and professionalism of the concierge team who have always been on hand to help me in every way. A spacial thanks to them all.

The property is generally well-managed and, once Covid restrictions have been lifted, I am sure that the lounge and gym will come into their own.

The design of the building is smart and modern and it has a sense of luxury to it reinforced by smaller details such as the lift interiors.

The building is quite new and therefore, undergoing some teething problems with things like the front door operation but this has been a relatively minor annoyance.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The local amenities are very good with a Marks and Spencer within walking distance and a cafe just a few metres from the building. Of course, Watrloo Station is directly opposite the building and many buses leave from the York Road immediately outside.

The atmosphere of the local area is also pleasant and calm with the National Theatre and the Royal Festival Hall within easy walking distance.

I have been very lucky because my apartment has an insipirational view of the Thames and the London Eye.

Parking is an issue locally and I would recommend the use of the underground garage.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

A new block is being constructed in front of this one which may interfere with the river view.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Yes generally they have been prompt in responding.

All outstanding

The building is beatufully designed, the gym facilities and staff are outstanding. Property management is friendly and helpful and makes me feel safe and attended at all times. Something has gone slighly wrong with the structural design of the building, i.e there are squaky type noises when windy.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

This area is prime location, convenient for moving North, South, East or West. It is beautiful by the river.
Inconvenience is it gets super crowded at times, especially on sunny weekends. Sometimes leading to bad behaviour from people gathering at night i.e recent riot in the Jubilee Gardens.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

A bit more visibility and regular updates on expected completion dates to help plan.

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

It would be nice to get discounts/offers on the spa tratments, and to have a private outdoor space like a rooftop!

Elegance!

Beautiful design. Elegant and modern.

The concierge are lovely and well-trained. Always a hello, with efforts to learn names.
Facilities- the health centre is incredible. Beautiful. Staff are lovely. The screening room is an amazing asset. The design in the lounge is AMAZING.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Good- so close to everything. Always lots of people around. So many local restaurants. Will be even better when more cafes and restaurants open on the development! Right next to Waterloo!

Bad- anti-social behaviour constantly. Police are always around, but this is largely because it’s just such a big tourist attraction

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That the cupboards are so tall and deep!! I’ve had to buy a stool to reach in, and I’m 5ft9!!

What is the best feature of your home:

The shower is beautiful and the best shower I’ve ever had lmao
