About Solum

Solum is a joint venture between Network Rail and Kier. The joint venture was established to develop mixed-use spaces in locations including Epsom, Haywards Heath, Kingswood, Walthamstow and Twickenham. It aims to reimagine the way railway land is used so it can better serve the community, whilst providing homes. Solum also strives to build high quality, environmentally friendly new homes close to London’s transport hubs.

Solum developments

Walthamstow Gateway is a Solum property in Walthamstow, right next to the station for easy access to the West End and the City. Striking the balance between connected urban living and a sense of space for residents and the wider community; the development includes 148 new homes, hotel and also retail next to Walthamstow Central station.

“Walthamstow isn’t a regeneration project like that of Nine Elms or Stratford, but an area that is just building on its current culture and community to provide further homes and an enhanced lifestyle to its existing and new residents… Let’s just say Walthamstow is Brixton five years ago, as it continues to change and adapt to the new demographic arriving, becoming a young professional’s escape from the soaring house prices in Zones 1-2.” – HomeViews Property Pro on Walthamstow Gateway

Twickenham Gateway is the transformational redevelopment of Twickenham Station; a brand new station building in the centre of a public plaza hosting a Sainsbury’s Local, M&S Food Hall and more. It has a range of spacious 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments available. These each provide contemporary living and unmatched connections to London and surrounding areas. The town itself offers endless places to explore, including public parks, the iconic Twickenham Stadium and also the River Thames.

Walthamstow’s Village Vibe

Very nice location and solid style, fittings and design for value.

Facilities are good – access to bins and bike Locks are good.

It would be good if we had a concierge in the reception. I think this could be funded at a reasonable rate by the residents and would add security and mitigate minor issues we have in the reception area.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The area is great – great community, diversity, shops, walks and transport links

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

NA

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Reasonably well. I understand that they have to manage many people with their respective concerns so generally happy.

Love living in Walthamstow

The design of the building is great – it’s exterior has a really nice finish to it and it’s really a standout building from the outside. Property management is good most of the time but there have been multiple occasions where it has taken weeks; sometimes months, to solve a particular issue. What would have been great is a rooftop garden – given space is finite, some greenery is always a welcome surprise.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The community is great in Walthamstow. There are so many different cultures that come together, whether it’s in the markets or just crossing people on the street. The amenities are great – you have every shop you could need on your doorstep combined with gems like the Village and Lloyd Park. The transport links are fantastic – friends are often surprised how quickly they can get to Walthamstow from central London.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

It would have been great to know more about the local area and amenities, as well as any potential upcoming developments and where these might be.

What is the best feature of your home:

The modern finish combined with high quality appliances. Even better, you get all of these things PLUS space, including generous storage space compared to similar flats elsewhere in London.

Great flat

Location is great, but being over a train station, not enough sound insulation or Aircon. No major issues with flat except a door not up to regs. But many issues with communal areas and facilities such as building door, plumbing and lifts.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Fantastic location, right outside tube. Supermarket, markets and local shops all on your doorstep.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The wind ventilation system has issues. It will whistle loudly and can cause air pressure issues.

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

Better doors, windows, and lifts. the main door is needlessly automatic and struggles in wind. Lifts often oos, doors not well sealed.
