Capital and Provident reviews

“Completed back in 2006, Discovery Dock \” divided into Discovery Dock East and Discovery Dock West \” is situated at the very centre of Canary Wharf. This complex was developed by Capital & Provident, with architects Chantrey Davis and EPR behind the designs. Studio apartments up to penthouse suites are available. The waterside location means the development is ideally placed for those working in the financial hub of Canary Wharf, with just a short commute over the curved footbridge. There will never be an evening or weekend lacking in entertainment, with a plethora of restaurants and bars on the doorstep, whatever your taste. Also within easy reach is a Tesco Express supermarket with cash machines, along with the huge selection of high street and high-end stores in nearby Jubilee Place Mall. Transport links are plentiful, with the Jubilee Line running from Canary Wharf Tube station to Stratford in the East and London Bridge, Waterloo and Bond Street to the West. Jump on the DLR at South Quay to get to London City Airport or Bank Underground station. The soon-to-be-open Crossrail will further speed up journey times across the capital, meaning Canary Wharf’s appeal will grow even more.” HomeViews Property Pro, Discovery Docks

A decent investment

This has been a great investment & overall I am very pleased with my purchase.
I lived here for a year and am now renting it out; as a resident the facilities are great but probably a bit pricey. The service charge for the pool etc far exceeds the monthly cost of my gym etc but these extras have definitely henpled me now rent it out.
My flat has 2 beds, 2 baths, reception room and a kitchen… they claim it’s about 1,000sq ft – I’m not convinced… it looks spacious empty but as soon as furniture and every day living fills it up, it feels pretty small.

Please tell us more about the location and surrounding area to your development
Central Canary Wharf – perfect

Please share one thing (or more) that you wish you had known before you moved in:
That the flat would fill up pretty quickly with furniture leaving limited space

Nice location next to the water overlooking the tall towers of Canary Wharf.

Nice location next to the water overlooking the tall towers of Canary Wharf. The interiors have seen better days but there are still decent on-site facilities like a gym and pool. Also handy to have a Tesco Metro close by, as well as the countless restaurants and shops in the area. You’ll get more for your money here, but worth taking a look at the other newer options to compare.

Perfect stay

Dockside is situated just three minutes walk from the DLR station and is ideal for professionals working in nearby Canary Wharf, as well as for accessing the local bars and restaurants.

I stayed for a week in a rented apartment – there appear to be a number in the area for short lets. I thought there was a lot of space compared to other service flats and finished to a high specification with quality fixtures and fittings, and a concierge service. Most apartments boast waterside views across the dock.

Canary Wharf DLR is just three stops away with access to a wealth of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as the business district. To shop go to Canada Place, Jubilee Place, Cabot Place and Crossrail Place.

Incredible views but noisy

I stayed here in one of the serviced apartments for a few nights. The apartments look very good, the view is incredible, downstairs there is a Tesco and the DLR is just right there.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The apartment is not at all soundproof : you can hear the sound of the elevator and the trains coming into South Quay Station. Furthermore, as there are a lot of works going on you cannot open the curtains because the workers look straight inside!
