The design is quite nice but not sure what to say for facilities, there are good parking spaces but other than that there are none. As i mentioned before a proper bin area would be good as it looks untidy left at the side of the road no matter when it is put out!
I think that the builders still working on developments further as long can be pretty inconisderate with parking, they park their cars and vans on the pavement all along so that i have to push the pushchair in the road. The roads are also very dirty covered in lots of mud (which is understandable with building work) however it means traipsing loads of it in every day. I have had to request several repairs as a lot of the fixtures where imo not properly attatched to the stud wall so they were not functional from when we moved in. Stair hand rail and toilet roll holders especially just fall off a lot.
It is ideal if you drive but for someone like myself who can’t and has small children it is quite a walk to get to the local shops (of which there are not many) which can be a pain at times. I have to order shopping online which can be more expensive.
It did feel very nice living here at first but as a few more people moved in there have been issues with the rubbish, it would be good if there was a different storage area for rubbish (covered perhaps) to stop animals getting to them. There is one neighbour who can make a lot of noise at unsociable hours and makes me feel a little unsafe here coupled with complaints made about me for putting rubbish out early when it isn’t me, has not helped my anxiety at all.
There is plenty of parking space which is great. The noise from traffic is pretty minimal compared to what i was used to before. Just the odd silly person who rides a noisey moped up and down repeatedly for some reason.
It’s all about the rubbish! You have to keep it in your house until the day it should be collected otherwise people will complain about you. The refuse collectors will ONLY collect it from the side of the road, so it’s no use keeping it in outdoor bins.
I love the layout and size of the rooms in this house, every room feels like it gets plenty of light during the day. I love how quiet it is here (for the most part)
The design of the property is great, the set out of the house is amazing and caters for us. All the space has been utilised well. The customer care team are amazing and responsive. Building management could be better due to the layout of outside of the property being advertised bigger than what it is. Also being told that there were no properties being built behind the house as the ground belonged to the church, then 2 months later that exact ground started being built on
The good thing about living in this area is the amenities here, the shops the school, the church and the parks! The downside of the parking for visitors on the estate
Building behind the house would of changed if we had brought or not
The house in general, the garden, having the added feature of the utility
The development lay out is typical of that of a new build housing estate. The communal lawn area is well kept however this took months and months to be complete. Other than that the development doesn’t really offer much in the way of communal spaces, no playing area etc. in our personal experience the house hasn’t been built to the highest standards and we have had a range of complaints including some repairs carried out by ashwood employees. The estate is quiet in the mornings and traffic is low.
Donington is an ideal location for young families, there are 2 convenience stores, 4 local takeaways and 2 schools in the village alone. Two bus routes to Spalding and Boston mean public transport is easily accessible too. Our development is next to the local skate park, which during the summer can cause issues with noise late at night and antisocial behaviour including drug use. Parking is easy and plentiful. Bin collections are always on time and ran well.
We wish we would have known just “cost effective” the house had been built. It seems like some expense was spared in a lot of areas of the home.
The house is very reasonably priced to run, gas and electricity rates are low.
Overall I was neither happy or dissatisfied with my purchase, which I think is a shame for a first house. It has a lovely layout to the property with a large living room for a small 3bed semi however, upon moving in I had no hot water, and after living here almost 18months I still don’t have my 7day snag list complete. It felt like there was great progress during build, but rather than delay completion by even a day or two to ensure it was done properly I was handed the keys to what felt like an incomplete property. The workforce still completing works further along the development are all decent, polite people and the site manager is welcoming and happy to help.
Lots of good shops, lots of takeaway options, has a gym, nice village atmosphere with a good pub and leisure centre.
The build would take 5 years and I would be living opposite the site entrance for the duration. I was told the build finished at the end of 2021 (not just phase 1) and was told the site entrance/location would move along with the build if it was delayed. I now have to live with plant machinery driving back and forth past my house at 7am on weekends, which isn’t ideal.
I also think side-door to the garage should be an optional extra at build stage.
Sizeable living room. This makes a huge difference to the feel of the property.
