Where is Redbridge?

Redbridge is an East London borough. It borders Essex to the north, Havering to the east, Barking and Dagenham to the south-east, Newham to the south-west, and Waltham Forest to the west. The area also includes the towns of Wanstead and Woodford.

Living in Redbridge

Redbridge is known as the ‘leafy suburb’ due to its 35 parks, playgrounds, and open green spaces. Wanstead Park and Flats are beautiful places to explore on foot or by bike, play sports, or picnic, with the Flats forming the tip of Epping Forest.

Other serene spots include the 300-acre Hainault Forest Country Park; Roding Valley Park wildlife sanctuary; and various ornamental gardens, greens, ancient woodland and meadows. Those who enjoy an active lifestyle may be interested in the area’s two football clubs, the Redbridge Sports Centre, and the tracks at Redbridge Cycling Centre.

The A12 cuts through the heart of Redbridge, connecting Romford in the east to Stratford in the southwest. It also intersects with the A406 and the A11 in the west, linking Redbridge to Epping Forest, Walthamstow, and London City Airport in the south.

The average property price in Redbridge, according to Rightmove, is currently £522,442. Terraced houses account for half of the properties sold in Redbridge in the 12 months to April 2024, achieving an average price of £581,479. Meanwhile, semi-detached properties sold for £674,893, with flats fetching £145,273. Although these prices sit comfortably below the London average, prices in the area have risen significantly in recent years.

According to recent snapshot data from the property search engine, Home.co.uk, Redbridge rentals achieve £1,750 per calendar month (PCM) on average. At the lower end of the market, one-bedroom homes secure around £1,450 PCM. In contrast, five-bedroom properties go for £3,325.
