Milton Keynes

Just 50 miles to north east of London, Milton Keynes was devised as a ‘new town’ in the 1960s and continues to evolve and grow today. Famed for its roundabouts and district grids, the town has benefitted from a steady flow of new residents from London. House prices have seen strong growth, with amenities and schools now plentiful and high quality. Housing is more varied than its reputation might suggest, with everything from period properties in historic villages to new build homes in chic developments.

Areas to consider

Areas in Milton Keynes with more of a village-feel include Middleton and Loughton. These offer historic homes as well as new build properties. Bradwell and the Shenley Villages are also worth considering if this is what you’re looking for.

Slightly further out, areas like Wolverton and Bletchley offer a good mix of property types, while Willen is a popular spot for property hunters wanting to live close to the lake. Central Milton Keynes is great for modern rental developments, like Grainger’s Solstice Apartments – our highest-rated development in MK so far.

“We love living in Oakgrove. We moved here to be in one of the best school catchments in MK. Our children go to Monkston primary school and now will be in catchment for Oakgrove secondary school which is a great school.” – Everett, Verified Resident, Oakgrove Village

Transport

Milton Keynes offers outstanding transport connections, both locally and nationally. Six rail stations serve the main urban area, including Milton Keynes Central, Wolverton and Bletchley – all on the West Coast Main Line. The fastest services into London take just 35 minutes.

The M1 motorway connects Milton Keynes with the Midlands and the north, as well as southwards through Luton into London. Luton Airport provides the nearest options for both domestic and international flights, while extensive bus services provide excellent local connections between the various estates and the centre of MK.

“Very close to the shopping centre and short walk to the park. Incredibly convenient to get on M1 in terms of commuting.” – Ed S. Verified Resident, Solstice Apartments MK9

Reviews

Solstice apartments is a great place to live as the apartments are very modern and well furnished with good views of the centre. The location is ideal with it being right opposite the shopping centre and close to bars, pubs and restaurants.

We moved from South Africa to the area last month and have so far been nothing but impressed with the houses, facilities, shops, schools and roads.

Housing has been planned well in that there are plenty of green areas and parks, with the sound from the motorway almost non existent. It is located in the catchment of good schools and is well located for commuting, being close to the motorway, coach station and railway. There are a good selection of shops nearby and restaurants are located slightly further away, but still within walking distance.

Walking distance to Stony Stratford which is fantastic for local amenities. Lots of choice, character and independent businesses. Lots of community events. A great place to live.

Excellent place to live in

Review Date Feb 2024

The location of The Almere within Milton Keynes is very convenient. Across the street from Sainsbury’s, next to The Hub, a few mins walk to the bus stop for the main routes, 15 mins walk from MKC rail station.

Please review your development:

Design of the common areas and flats is very attractive. The furniture is very nice aesthetically and in quality. The wardrobe design is unusual as it does not have any drawers for underwear or similar folded clothes, only hanging. The facilities are top level, only thing missing is a gym. Property management and maintenance have been top notch so far.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The Wi-Fi setup is not very friendly to the average user. I can definitely imagine a lot of people struggling with getting all their devices online.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Yes, almost immediately fixed minor issues spotted during move-in.

Good design although park areas have taken a very long time to be opened

Was great to start with – excellent facilities and the usual gleam of a new development but starting to change for the worse and showing its wear

Please review your development:

Good design although park areas have taken a very long time to be opened, if they are at all. Building design is okay, but starting to lose their gleam as the rendering is weathering. Large number of unoccupied houses bought by investors that aren’t well looked after – if at all

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Number of empty & rented properties not cared for are becoming an eyesore.

What is the best feature of your home:

Location and surrounding facilities are great with a good amount of open space.

Great place to live!

Review Date Feb 2024

It was very close to basic needs. Right at the center of the city with a lot of attractions around. Great view, management and facility.

Please review your development:

The property and building management team are up to speed and effective. The design is great, dreamy and elegant. It’s a great place to live, a home away from home. The management team are cheerful and always willing to help. Great people and great team.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

In all fairness, there is nothing I wish I had known.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The response time was great, all thanks to Mustafa and Natalie.

An exceptionally high level living complex

Since first arriving at the Almere, I have come too seeing the wide selection of restaurants and bars within a km walk in the surrounding area of The Almere, we also have a supermarket within a 200m walk of the flat complex which is also very convenient. I would say the only downfall with being in The Almere is the parking lay out. Given the area you have to share with a lot of the public which isn’t convenient but at the same time their is under-ground parking which is based at the rear of the property but again has a long waiting list which can be very inconvenient.

Please review your development:

Living in the Almere brings a high level of comfort with the politeness from the staff situated at the entrance who are always warm welcoming when entering the complex. You have a several communal areas through out the building where they allow you too goo with friends and families. The overall layout and facilities available in The Almere are by far 5*

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The parking honestly is the only downfall, increasing the amount of underground parking spaces would be very convenient

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They reply with action and take priority in any inconvenience you are faced with in your flat complex
