Best of both worlds

Islington is less than 10 minutes from the capital’s centre, so it’s perfect for those who want to be close to the action, but still enjoy the peace and quiet associated with London’s outskirts. This is an area of wooded bicycle trails and sweeping parkland – Highbury Fields and Gillespie Park, in particular, come highly recommende.

Islington transport

The area’s serviced by multiple tube and train stations. From Angel, residents can get to Bank in just five minutes, and London Bridge in seven. Similarly, the Victoria line from Highbury & Islington can whisk commuters to Oxford Circus in seven minutes. While the Overground connects to Clapham Junction, Shoreditch and Stratford.

Foodie draws

For top-notch dining, Islington occupants can stay put. These parts are packed with restaurants serving around-the-world cuisines. Try Upper Street for both cutesy independent eateries and well-known chain varieties, dishing up Italian, Japanese, Turkish and Mexican specialities. Clerkenwell’s Exmouth Market is brilliant for regional plates and fusion fare. And if you’re cooking at home? Trawl Islington Farmers’ Market for quality slabs of meat and fish, fresh herbs and veg and gorgeous cakes and pastries. Plus, stop by Grange Nursery for seasonal blooms for the table.

Shopping scene in Islington

When a little retail therapy is on the cards, Islington comes up trumps. Its namesake high street is best for book shops, delis and clothes boutiques, while big brands can be found in the Angel and Nag’s Head shopping malls.

“Just a couple of blocks away from Canonbury Cross is Upper Street, a myriad of independent bars and pubs as well as high street stores and boutiques.” A property professional on Canonbury Cross, N1

Local entertainment in Islington

The borough’s big on culture, as well. Try the Almeida for world-class theatre, and the Pleasance for little-known comedy acts tipped for big things. There’s also the Islington Arts Factory – a community centre for inspiring classes like reggae aerobics, pottery and tai chi. The centre’s celebrated for its exhibitions, which showcase local artists’ sculptures, paintings and photography.

Great place to live

Good aspects: at the top of archway tube station and just few steps away from all the supermarkets
Bad aspects: it can be quite noisy during because the Whittington hospital is just behind the building

Please review your development:

Building is really modern and the management is absolutely great, downside is there is only one lift to go to the bin area because and the waste chute has never worked since I moved about 2 years ago. The building has amazing views over the London skyline

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had known my flat had more storage, there is a very tiny wardrobe

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They try to resolve my problem asap, they are super efficient

Excellent place to live in London!

All good! Just some very minor issue. Especially it’s a bit messy around the metro station over the weekends when there’s no one collecting. But clearly it’s with the borough, doesn’t distract the excellence of the apartment itself.

Please review your development:

Designs are great, all good with other facilities. It’s just a bit inconvenient when I have to go all the way down to basement for bin room, especially there’s only one elevator for that. When I move in they are refurbishing the building (but I know they’re trying to make it better!).

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Maybe that the building is refurbishing? So I can prepare accordingly.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Excellent! They are able to respond to any queries instantly in working days.

The area is very well connected, right above Archway station, a short ride to Camden, highgate etc.
There is parking on site which is a big plus, and excellent nurseries around.
MS Food, Costco and Starbucks right at our doorstep.

Please review your development:

The building itself is very nice!
The lobby area and coworking are being renovated, which will be great and is finishing soon.
The views from the residents lounge is fantastic. However, a coffee machine and some other activities would be much appreciated. The apartment itself is large and relativley well maintained. The wifi service is very bad and is the main downside.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That the wifi is unusable, but this can be fixed via mobile wifi.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The internet is faulty as its a company related to the ownership, this cant really be fixed. Other maintenance iasues were quick to resolve

I like everything about the building and the apartment, the design, location, I would have liked to know that the refrigerator is small although this would not change my decision

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They always respond quickly and solve it in a short time.
